What is a multi-use card
Multi-use virtual cards offer the ability to use one virtual card to make multiple payments. Perfect for projects, travel & campaigns, the main characteristics are:
Set up a fixed budget and end date.
Make multiple payments using a single, secure virtual card.
Available on Google of Apple Pay (if available in your region).
Card is automatically deactivated at the end date.
When to use it
The main use cases are the following:
Managing project budgets for short-term campaigns or events.
Covering travel and accommodation expenses for business trips without issuing physical cards.
Centralizing budget control for ad hoc purchases or team activities.
Who can use it
Any employee who uses Spendesk as the feature is available on all plans.
Request your multi-use virtual card (desktop)
Go to your account and click on New Request.
Then Request a Virtual Card
Select Multi-use card.
Fill in the information related to your request (amount, description, end date...)
When you're ready, click on Confirm my request.
Once you've successfully submitted your request, it will either be automatically approved or sent to approval depending on your approval policy. You should receive a notification once approved.
Then, head to the Expenditures > Requests tab.
Click on "Get card".
Pay online as usual, by entering your card numbers, expiry date, cvv code and billing address.
Verify your payment if you are making an online purchase:
If you are part of an account where the main currency is GBP, you will be asked to enter your payment password which you can find under your multi-use card.
If you are part of an account where the main currency is EUR, you will need to have the mobile app downloaded and a verified phone number to validate the payment.
Request a multi-use virtual card (mobile)
You can also request muti-use cards from the mobile app 📲.
From the app Home page, select ‘+ New Request’, then ‘Request a virtual card’ and choose ‘Multi-use’ then enter an amount, description and fill relevant/mandatory fields.
Send your request and wait for it to be approved (unless your approval policy is that you require ‘no approval’ or ‘sometimes’, in which case it can be automatically approved).
Once approved, head to “My cards” tab to find you card details.
View multi-use card details
Once your multi-use card request has been approved, you'll find the card directly in the Cards > Multi-use tab on desktop. On mobile, it’s listed directly under “My cards” tab.
Your multi-use card is blocked
Manually block it
Head over to the "Multi-use cards" tab.
Select the card.
Click on 'Pause card'
You can un-block it at any time, except if the end date is passed.
→ Note that any admin in your team can manually block the card too.
Delete your multi-use card
You've reach the end date of your card or spent everything you needed. You can directly delete it so it doesn’t appear in the list anymore.
Head over to the "Multi-use cards" tab.
Select the card.
Click on "Cancel / Delete" at the bottom of the page
⚠️ Be careful, once the card is deleted, it's not possible to restore it.

Can I adjust the budget after the card is issued?
Currently, the budget is fixed at issuance to maintain control over project expenses.
What happens if I need to extend the card’s expiration date?
You will need to create a new card with a new expiration date.
What is the maximum expiration date?
You can choose a date up to 4 years.
Can this card be used for multiple transactions?
Yes, multi-use virtual cards allow for multiple transactions within the set budget and time frame.
How is the card budget set?
You request the budget amount, end date and provide the cost centre in the request. The approver can then approve or deny the request.
