For regulatory and compliance reasons, Spendesk card payments are not permitted in certain countries. These restrictions are mandatory and cannot be lifted under any circumstances.
Why Are Some Countries Restricted?
These restrictions are imposed by our card processing partners and applicable financial regulations, including sanctions programs (such as OFAC) and requirements from our correspondent banks. They apply to all Spendesk card types (physical and virtual) and to all users, regardless of the country where your company is registered.
List of Restricted Countries
If you or one of your team members attempts a card payment in any of the following countries, the transaction will be automatically declined:
Country | ISO Code |
Belarus | BY |
Burundi | BI |
Central African Republic | CF |
Cuba | CU |
Iran | IR |
Iraq | IQ |
Lebanon | LB |
Libya | LY |
Mali | ML |
Myanmar | MM |
Nicaragua | NI |
North Korea (DPRK) | KP |
Russia | RU |
Sierra Leone | SL |
Somalia | SO |
South Sudan | SS |
Sudan | SD |
Syria | SY |
Ukraine | UA |
Uzbekistan | UZ |
Venezuela | VE |
Yemen | YE |
What Should I Do If I Need to Pay in One of These Countries?
Declined payments in restricted countries cannot be unblocked by Spendesk or your company administrator. We recommend:
Using an alternative payment method (e.g., a personal card or bank transfer) for expenses incurred in these countries.
Submitting expenses manually in Spendesk using the expense reimbursement feature, if your plan supports it.
Can These Restrictions Be Removed?
No. These restrictions are enforced at the card network and processor level, and Spendesk has no ability to override them. They apply universally to all accounts.
