Some merchant categories are restricted on all Spendesk cards for compliance and regulatory reasons. These restrictions apply regardless of your card type or your company's settings, and cannot be changed by your admin.
Which merchant categories are restricted?
The following categories are restricted on all Spendesk cards:
Gambling and betting services
Adult entertainment and escort services
Cryptocurrency exchanges
Wire transfers and cash equivalent services
Securities brokers and dealers
Lottery and government-licensed casinos
Gift card and stored value card specialists
Political, religious, and charitable organizations (in certain contexts)
Precious metals, jewelry, and pawn shops
Real estate transactions
What happens if I try to pay at one of these merchants?
Your payment will be automatically declined. You will receive a notification with the following message:
"This merchant category is restricted on all Spendesk cards."
This restriction cannot be removed by your admin.
