Before you start
Only the Account Owner can link a US bank account and fund a Spendesk account via ACH.
Your company's KYB (Know Your Business) verification must be completed before you can start this process. Nothing can be done before this step.
ACH is currently the only method available to fund a US Spendesk account. Wire transfer and card top-ups are not supported for US accounts.
You need your company's US bank account number and routing number on hand.
👥 Roles: Only Account Owners can set up ACH bank funding for a US Spendesk account.
Step-by-step instructions
Contact your US bank and ask them to whitelist Spendesk as an ACH originator. Use the exact details in ACH Funding Activation Details below. This can take up to 48 hours and must be completed before you enter your bank details in Spendesk.
Wait for your company's KYB validation to be completed. Contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) if you have questions about this step.
Navigate to Wallet > Top Up.
Enter your company's bank account number and routing number in the fields provided.
Wait 2-3 days for Spendesk to send two small deposits (this is called the "micro-deposit test" or "penny test") to your bank account.
Enter the two exact micro-deposit amounts in Spendesk once you receive them.
Initiate an ACH debit for the amount you want to add to your Spendesk account. This typically completes within 3-7 business days.

Before you contact your bank, know that most US banks require you to whitelist third-party ACH originators before they can debit your account. This is a standard security measure against unauthorized transactions.
Give your bank the following details, and ask them to whitelist Spendesk's payment processor as an ACH originator:
Field | Value | What it means |
ACH Company ID (also called "Company Identification") | 1020401225 | The unique identifier NACHA assigned to the originator of your ACH transactions. |
Originator / Company Name | Paymentech | The payment processor that initiates ACH transactions on Spendesk's behalf. |
Marqeta ID (additional reference, if requested) | 000240066 | A secondary reference number some banks may ask for in addition to the Company ID. |
💡 Tip: Give your bank the ACH Company ID and Originator Name first. Only provide the Marqeta ID if your bank specifically asks for an additional reference number.
Expected results
Once your bank confirms the whitelist and you complete the micro-deposit test, your bank account is linked as your funding source. You can then initiate ACH debits to add funds to your Spendesk account whenever you need to.
Troubleshooting
Symptom: Your bank says it received a different ID than what's listed in this article, or rejects the whitelist request.
Cause: The ACH Company ID and the Marqeta ID are different values used for different purposes. Entering one in the wrong field, or giving your bank only one of the two, can cause a mismatch.
Resolution: Confirm with your bank which field each value should go in. Give them the ACH Company ID (1020401225) as the primary originator identifier, and the Marqeta ID (000240066) only as an additional reference if requested.
Symptom: You entered the micro-deposit amounts multiple times and they keep failing.
Cause: Too many failed attempts can flag your bank account on Marqeta's side, which delays verification further.
Resolution: Stop entering amounts after a failed attempt. Contact Spendesk support with your company name and bank reference so the team can check and re-trigger the micro-deposit test if needed.
Symptom: You completed the whitelist step, but never received the micro-deposit amounts.
Cause: Your KYB validation may not be complete yet, or your funding source wasn't correctly linked in Spendesk.
Resolution: Confirm your KYB status with your CSM first. If KYB is validated and you still haven't received the amounts after 3 days, contact Spendesk support.
⚠️ Warning: Repeatedly entering incorrect micro-deposit amounts can temporarily block your bank account from further verification attempts. Double-check the amounts before entering them.
