Updated yesterday

Introduction

3D Secure (3DS) is a security protocol designed to add an extra layer of protection to your online card transactions.

What is Strong Authentication and What Is It Used For?

Strong authentication is a security process that requires the verification of at least two different types of authentication factors from the following three categories:

  • Something you have (e.g., a physical key, a smartphone)

  • Something you know (e.g., a password or PIN)

  • Something you are (e.g., a fingerprint or facial recognition)

How to set it up

The 3DS flow will be different if you're a UK or a EEA customer. To know which one you are, just check the currency in your account and whether it's GBP or EUR.

Set up for EEA (EUR) customers 🇪🇺

Follow these steps to verify your payment:

  • Download and install the mobile application on your phone. Without it, you will not be able to proceed as SMS codes are not supported.

  • Make the online payment.

  • You will be prompted by an in-app notification to validate the online payment via 3DS.

  • Validate the payment in-app.

Set up for UK (GBP) customers 🇬🇧

Follow these steps to verify your payment:

  • Add your phone number in your profile, it's a necessary step as you will receive an SMS to validate your online payments.

  • Make the online payment.

  • Enter the payment password that is assigned to you (format=4 capital letters, for example "ERFX") + the one-time-password received by SMS.

  • Note that the payment password is the same for all your cards.

  • The payment is authorized when the SMS code & the payment password are entered correctly.
