Introduction
3D Secure (3DS) is a security protocol designed to add an extra layer of protection to your online card transactions.
What is Strong Authentication and What Is It Used For?
Strong authentication is a security process that requires the verification of at least two different types of authentication factors from the following three categories:
Something you have (e.g., a physical key, a smartphone)
Something you know (e.g., a password or PIN)
Something you are (e.g., a fingerprint or facial recognition)
How to set it up
The 3DS flow will be different if you're a UK or a EEA customer. To know which one you are, just check the currency in your account and whether it's GBP or EUR.
Set up for EEA (EUR) customers 🇪🇺
Follow these steps to verify your payment:
Download and install the mobile application on your phone. Without it, you will not be able to proceed as SMS codes are not supported.
Make the online payment.
You will be prompted by an in-app notification to validate the online payment via 3DS.
Validate the payment in-app.
Set up for UK (GBP) customers 🇬🇧
Follow these steps to verify your payment:
Log in
Add your phone number in your profile, it's a necessary step as you will receive an SMS to validate your online payments.
Make the online payment.
Enter the payment password that is assigned to you (format=4 capital letters, for example "ERFX") + the one-time-password received by SMS.
Note that the payment password is the same for all your cards.
The payment is authorized when the SMS code & the payment password are entered correctly.

Mobile app, multiple places:
From My profile > Security options > Payment passwords and click on Reveal password.
From the Physical card details page.
From any Virtual card details page.
Desktop app, multiple places:
