In this article, you will learn all about 3DS and why it can happen not to receive a confirmation text (also called One-time password, OTP).
What is 3DS?
The 3DS protocol is a European standard which helps to reduce fraud and provide extra security to your online payments.
Set up 3DS with your Spendesk card
To ensure that you can use 3DS with your Spendesk card:
log in to your Spendesk account.
Click on your avatar in the top-right hand corner.
Select Edit your profile.
From there, please add a valid cellphone number to your profile.
Good to know
If you haven't added a phone number yet, we may prompt you to add a valid cellphone to your Spendesk profile. It's not possible to add a landline phone.
Secure your payment through a code received by text message
If you make an online purchase with your Spendesk card, you may have to go through the 3DS security protocol to authenticate that you are the cardholder. To do so, you will receive a text message (SMS) with a unique code. You will need to input this code in form similar to this one:
Secure your payment from the mobile app
Since July 2021 you can receive your confirmation on the Spendesk mobile app! Verification by security code, fingerprint, face... ➡️ you can choose your authentication method.
👉 What if users don't have the app installed?
Don't worry, we handled every case. If a user doesn't have the mobile app installed, we made sure that the existing 3DS flow is still working, meaning that the user will still receive an OTP via SMS, just as it was before.
